It performs well under various approaches in planting, for example, as a landscaping item, crop of kitchen garden, component of mixed farming, an inter crop or as a pure crop. There are separate male and female flowers in Malabar Tamarind; male ones which are much more in number appear on lateral branches whereas females which later develop into fruits tend to be on the tips of branches. The heavy rind of fruits which is the commonly used part, is rich in minerals, nutrients and anti oxidants and is smoked and dried before using. It is supposed to be the best natural remedy to fight body fat. The tree tends to grow less in height if budded planting materials are used.
